ToTT turns 3! + Singapore’s Biggest “Blind-tasting” Competition.

Tools of the Trade (ToTT) turns 3 in October 2013!

If you wonder what is ToTT, it’s a huge kitchen wonderland. How huge? It’s 36,000 square feet huge, the biggest kitchenware and tableware retail store you can find in Asia. ToTT comprises of a bistro, a gourmet produce section, a cookbook area, a children’s corner, a DIY baking counter and a retail section that carries a lot of cooking, baking, and hosting related merchandise.

For residents of Bukit Timah, there’s a some rejoicing as Jasons The Gourmet Grocer will be unveiled supplying produce to ToTT’s gourmet produce section. It is a 3000 square feet area where premium selection of fresh produce including seafood, dairy, gourmet meats can be found.

I am a little gadget geek, both IT gadget and kitchen gadgets, so I love to hunt for good bargains. I have bought many gadgets including a built-in freezer ice cream machine here. Want to crack the perfect round top egg? They sell a special egg cracker here! Friends who came to our home and tried our sous vide egg wondered how we cracked eggs with such a nice straight cap! This place is also probably the only place in Singapore to get the cheapest microplane too! We have got a few of it at home because getting one here is only getting half a microplane at Orchard Road shops.

ToTT will also be holding a storewide 10% sale with selected items at 50% off. Check the local newspapers or their Facebook page for the offers. The last sale we got quite a few things for ourselves, one of it was a Staub cast iron pot for a super super good price!

ToTT

ToTT Store also has culinary, baking and hosting classes at their two on-premise cooking studios that’s equipped with top of the range appliances.

Go to their website or Facebook page, to ‘chope’ your exclusive $28per person cooking classes.
I have attended a few hands-on classes here too.

My sis has been on a macaron craze recently and she wanted to learn the different methods and after comparing different blogs, youtubes etc. There was no one to ask question in person! She was at ToTT buying something and saw the Class Schedule. She whatsapp our home group chat and said: “Just paid $118 for a professional class, no more failed macarons!” She came back from the class so excited, saying you know what we did wrong, we did this and that wrong! Lots of secrets and tips that she got from Chef Lin Weixian.
