    jiaying,
ya, whenever we eat mee suah, we alwyas remember our late maternal grandma who absolutely loves mee suah.

    Anon,
The men were eating while I took the other half. LOL

    Nic,
My first taste of foie gras was when i was 17 i think in Oz, in the form of pate, and I hated it. LOL…

But recently, i ate some nicely prepared ones.

But Mee Suah still taste nicer. hehe…

    Life for Beginners,
Yes, comfort food indeed. Not only on rainy days for me.

  • R there different kinds of mee suah in SG these days ? Far as I can remember, we had only the type that tends to soak up the soup or coagulate into a mushy mass !

Just wonderd if this version of mee suah is hing hwa ? Our Hokkien mee suah consist of sliced pork, scrambled eggs with ginger n spring onions. The soup is lifted with the fragrance of the chinese mushrooms. For the birthday sarah or abraham, we get 2 boiled eggs as extra while the rest gets only one.
This tradition has made way for cakes n high tea since I was a teenager. Having read this post, I'm in the mood for some nostalgia.
Am heading out to Amsterdam this saturday to buy some mee suah (packed like a pack of spaghetti, so dont know how it will taste). I like the pork ribs in the soup !
Must get ur aunt to co-blog the recipe here lah *wink*

  • Nah, the Mee Suah that we talk about is from neighbouring country. The ones from there are more delicious! ๐Ÿ™‚

You make me wonder now how Amsterdam Mee suah is like! hehe..

Google or Bing or Yahoo for Mee Suah recipe lah! Boil your fav soup and then add in mee suah, simple!
